Every procedure represents a step forward in the fight against lung cancer. “This technology has transformed how we approach lung biopsies,” says Dr. Jaspal Singh, Medical Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Education at Atrium Health Levine Cancer. “It allows us to reach deeper, diagnose earlier and care better.” As the first in North Carolina to reach this milestone, our team continues to lead the way in lung nodule detection and diagnosis. With every heartbeat, their friendship grows. ?? Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital patients Paisley and Dally’s bond goes beyond their health journeys. After both receiving life-saving heart transplants in 2024, their families met through a mentorship program offered to patient families at Levine Children’s, connecting them for encouragement, mentorship and support throughout their medical journey. In addition to sharing a similar health journey, Dally and Paisley both have 3-year-old brothers (Kolton and Phillip) who became inseparable the moment they met. Dally’s mom, Madalyn and Paisley’s mom, Josie even stay in touch, texting often and spending time together between hospital stays. After learning that Paisley and Dally would be admitted at the same time during a recent hospital stay, their amazing care team, with the help of their moms, coordinated the two best friends’ first sleepover — a special moment both families will never forget. What started as an opportunity to find community turned into an unbreakable bond between both families, showing the amazing impact shared experiences can have on patients and their families.

What started as one pediatrician’s vision has grown into a transformative summer experience for hundreds of future doctors. This year, Kid Doc Summer Camp celebrates its ninth graduating class! ???? Kid Doc Summer Camp is a summer camp created by Atrium Health Levine Children’s pediatrician Dr. Nikita Lindsay with the purpose of encouraging and inspiring the physicians of tomorrow. Through fun, hands-on labs and interactive lessons led by local physicians, this program educates and empowers 3rd-5th graders to envision themselves as doctors. Over the past five summers, Dr. Lindsay and her team have empowered more than 250 campers to explore health care careers and provided each with memorable experiences and their Kid Doc degree! We are proud to recognize Dr. Lindsay’s powerful vision and celebrate the incredible impact Kid Doc Summer Camp is making on each young camper and the future of medicine. As the first class of the Charlotte campus of Wake Forest University School of Medicine students don their white coats marking the next chapter of their journey to becoming physicians, they inspire younger generations, especially graduates from this summer’s Kid Doc Summer Camp program.
